With more than 30 years of experience in real estate, Kay Bates has built a reputation as a trusted advisor, respected leader, and dedicated advocate for San Diego County. Since beginning her career in 1992, she has successfully guided buyers, sellers, investors, & business owners through residential, commercial, land, & investment transactions while consistently delivering exceptional service & lasting relationships. As the Broker/Owner of RE/MAX Excellence, Kay is known for her integrity, strategic guidance, strong negotiation skills, and unwavering commitment to helping clients achieve their real estate goals. She believes every transaction is built on trust, communication, & putting her clients' best interests first. Kay's leadership extends well beyond real estate. She served six years on the Escondido Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, including as 2025–2026 Board Chair, & now serves as Immediate Past Chair. In recognition of her leadership and service, she received the Outstanding Citizen Award, and on June 26, 2026, San Diego County Supervisor Jim Desmond proclaimed "Kay Bates Day" throughout San Diego County.
Kay also serves as Chair of the SDAR Coastal Carlsbad Caravan & as a Committee Member of the Independent North County Caravan, promoting collaboration, education, and professionalism within the real estate industry. Originally from Trinidad and Tobago, Kay's journey reflects resilience, determination, and a passion for serving others. Before entering real estate, she worked as a flight attendant, an experience that strengthened the communication & relationship building skills that continue to define her business today.
